I read Susan Striker on this subject years ago when I started offering crafts at my storyhour. Over the years I have tried to combine the two, process and product, so that I’ve been able to come up with a calendar of product-looking crafts that are non cookie cutter. For example, after princess & superhero storyhour this week, we made crowns. I gave them strips of wallpaper, and they cut the triangles to make the jagged edges (scissor skill), pasted on the glitter and jewels (small motor).
